Trust is a gift

Trust is a gift, delicately given,
and the giver expects the recipient
to value,
to protect,
and to nurture
trust

As easily as it is given,
trust can be
broken,
lost
or squandered
and the process of
rebuilding and repairing takes
a lot longer than
the initial giving.

Realizing this,
recognizing the fragility and
preciousness of
the gift of trust
challenges me
to be worthy of it.
Even the clumsiest person
can protect
an eggshell-thin
bauble
through care
and the grace
that only God
can bestow.
